Disc

disc magnetsDisc magnets are generally thin, flat and circular. The diameter (D) of a disc magnet is always greater than the height (H), or thickness. The disc is a very popular shape for magnets.

Magnetic discs have a strong magnetic field and high coercivity, which means they are not easily demagnetized. This type of permanent magnet is used for a multitude of different applications, such as metal separation, magnetic therapy, brochure closures, school science experiments, jewelry-making, packaging, book-binding, retail displays, and electrical appliances, just to name a few.

Products fastened with magnetic discs are sleek, simple to assemble, clean and preserve the structural and textural integrity of the materials they hold together.

AMF Magnets offers three different types of magnetic discs:

Neodymium Disc Magnets, also called rare earth disc magnets, are the perfect combination of small size and maximum strength. Neodymium discs come in a variety of sizes and with several coatings, such as Nickel, Zinc or Gold. We also have disc magnets with an easy to use peel-off adhesive backing.

Ceramic Disc Magnets (sometimes called Ferrite magnets) are widely used for crafts and hobbies, school science projects, and even physical therapy. The low cost of these magnets makes them a great choice for home use. These are medium strength magnets.

Samarium Cobalt Disc Magnets have a very high resistance to demagnetization and outstanding temperature stability. This makes them a great choice for many situations where high temperatures are a consideration.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
