If you don't try, you'll never know.
I bought this strong flex strip to see if it would work as a closure for leather work articles. Hard Neo magnets need some separation to stop the closure "noise", but are not strong enough once separated, so thought this strip might work. I've tried ordinary magnetic strip but it is way too weak. Using this strip cut into sections and using them as a pair of attracting magnets doesn't work very well as the magnets only attract with reasonable strength when off-set from each other. It is obvious once one sees how it spirals together in an off-set "cone" arrangement. We live and learn. The strip magnet works fine again a non-magnetised steel surface.

Hi Christopher,
We appreciate you sharing your experience with using the NeoFlex strip for leather closures. For leather closure applications, you might find better results using our standard neodymium disc or block magnets in pairs, perhaps with a thin fabric or leather layer between them to reduce the closure noise you mentioned. We're glad to hear the strip works well against steel surfaces as intended.
Kind regards,
