An Electromagnet is built by wrapping many coils of wire around a ferromagnetic core. When electricity flows through a conductor, a magnetic field is created around the conductor. This Electromagnet is suitable for continuous duty up to 32 Volts. Some current drop will occur at higher voltages and temperatures. The most significant factors affecting the performance of the magnet will be the thickness of the steel being lifted and the surface condition of the steel. Typical applications include automation, sheet handling, welding jigs, fire doors and air-conditioning smoke shutters.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
